This last year I began to notice the most beautiful dresses for girls showing up in my instagram feed. They had some really fun details and were made in the most beautiful fabrics, and some had gorgeous flowing skirts that just begged for the prettiest fabric in your stash. And they weren’t just popping up from one maker, but from lots of makers all over instagram. I instantly fell in love and became totally obsessed with these dresses and had to find out who this pattern maker was.
I absolutely loved this week’s theme to pick any place we wanted! Since we live by the beach I knew we had to do something to do the with water. And one of the places I have wanted to travel most is Greece. I was inspired by the dreamy Mediterranean blues and greens and wanted to make flowing pieces that would be at home along the water. You can vote for my look over at Project Run & Play!
made this cute little version of the Caroline Party Dress for Christmas for Ava this year and soooo had plans to post this for you all to see before Christmas. But seriously, what mom doesn’t go completely bonkers during the Holiday season with the thousand things that we are supposed to get done.
Today I have the cutest DIY Fairy Dress Tutorial made with a lovely flowy chiffon! I am so excited to share this one!!!! The idea came to me when I was scouting photography pictures on pinterest. I loved the etherial soft backlit look with sweet pink tones. I wanted something that was light weight and would drape kinda flowy when the girls flitted about.
Whew what a summer! My kids are finally back in school and I am so excited to have a chance to catch up with everybody again. I really had planned on blogging through the summer, but with the kids around all the time it just got too difficult and I decided to quit ripping my hair out trying to find time to sew and instead just enjoy the time with the kids and go have fun swimming and hanging out at the beach.
OMG, I am totally gushing over this seriously cute Flutterby Kite pattern from Molly and Mama for One Thimble Issue 12. I mean fur reals! A quilted kite up on my kiddos wall! What?!!! Anyways, it is totally love.
atty Young from MODKID is back with another vibrant and colorful line for Riley Blake Designs. It is called Acorn Valley and is full of colorful hues and whimsical motifs. There are friendly foxes, beautiful butterflies, and sweet forests. I absolutely love the blues used in this collection. The fabric is available in both flannel and knit.
Okay so all of us would rather be sewing than doing chores, right? Especially laundry, I really don’t know what’s worse dishes or laundry. Neither one of them is ever actually done, they just keep appearing out of nowhere. Just when I think I have finished the last load all of a sudden I find more dirty clothes or dishes hiding around the house. And then getting them put away. Actually putting dishes away is my husband’s job, so I don’t actually worry about that one. But laundry? Hmmmph! That one I can never seem to get put away. I can seriously wash like a champ, but the whole thing goes off the rails when it comes to getting them folded and in the drawers.
This weeks DIY Reversible Kids Apron Pattern is so fun and says summer all over! Yaaaay! I am loving all the bright colors! My kids really had a great time getting to paint and draw their little hearts out. I love little art aprons for kids. They are so adorable painting away in their little cover ups. But since inevitable paint WILL get all over, I thought it would be really great if it looked like it was actually supposed to be there!
Welcome to the super easy peasy tutorial on how to sew ruching to ANYTHING! Its an easy way to add an accent to your favorite shirt or shorts, and works especially well with knits! Which leads me to the super awesome cozy knit capris that I sewed up with ruched sides. I am going to be honest, that I am a little jealous that these belong to my daughter and not me. haha.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the lovely mother’s out there! This year for Mother’s Day I really wanted to get it together and do something fun with the kids. I thought making a mommy and me outfit would be super fun, espcially while the kids are young enough to still think its cool!
