I mixed this gorgeous print from Bari J. that my best friend Jennie had gifted me last year, with some coordinating fabrics and made the cutest little pot holders to send her. She was so excited to receive a sewing gift in the mail with one of her favorite prints. I just love how new pot holders can spruce up your kitchen!

This year I decided to embark on a Calendar Project. A What? Every month for the whole year I will do a photo shoot with my girls using each month as a theme guide and at the end of a 12 month period I will have 12 beautiful photos for a calendar to give as a gift at Christmas.

Wow, it has been quite around here. I didn’t mean to go so long without posting but between a secret sewing project (to be revealed later) and focusing on family, I took a little longer break than usual. So I am happy that I am finally getting around to blogging this scrappy shabby chic strip quilt. This quilt was one of those WIPs that went on for several years. In fact I started it when my oldest girl was 2. I finished it earlier this year, but just hadn’t had a chance to snap some pictures. I love all these florals that interact to give it a shabby chic look.
Today is the last day of the Halloween Bag-a-Palooza with Halloween Treat Bag Tutorials from Sunflower Seams and Lulu & Celeste. If you read yesterday’s post you will have heard that I am little behind posting because of Hurricane Matthew. We are hoping to head home tomorrow, but are still not allowed back due to the damage. Today I have the cutest DIY Fairy Dress Tutorial made with a lovely flowy chiffon! I am so excited to share this one!!!! The idea came to me when I was scouting photography pictures on pinterest. I loved the etherial soft backlit look with sweet pink tones. I wanted something that was light weight and would drape kinda flowy when the girls flitted about.
Whew what a summer! My kids are finally back in school and I am so excited to have a chance to catch up with everybody again. I really had planned on blogging through the summer, but with the kids around all the time it just got too difficult and I decided to quit ripping my hair out trying to find time to sew and instead just enjoy the time with the kids and go have fun swimming and hanging out at the beach.

25 Watermelon DIY projects that you NEED to make! Its officially summer! And that means sun, and swimming, and of course juicy watermelon! And it just so happens that my older daughter McKenna is a summer baby. Which means summer fun party! We spent a little while brainstorming for co-ed friendly party themes, since the boys weren’t going to be digging unicorns and mermaids and landed on watermelon. I went to town scouring the internet for party inspiration and found so many great ideas and DIY’s that I wanted to round them up and share all these gorgeous projects with you!
Okay so all of us would rather be sewing than doing chores, right? Especially laundry, I really don’t know what’s worse dishes or laundry. Neither one of them is ever actually done, they just keep appearing out of nowhere. Just when I think I have finished the last load all of a sudden I find more dirty clothes or dishes hiding around the house. And then getting them put away. Actually putting dishes away is my husband’s job, so I don’t actually worry about that one. But laundry? Hmmmph! That one I can never seem to get put away. I can seriously wash like a champ, but the whole thing goes off the rails when it comes to getting them folded and in the drawers.
This weeks DIY Reversible Kids Apron Pattern is so fun and says summer all over! Yaaaay! I am loving all the bright colors! My kids really had a great time getting to paint and draw their little hearts out. I love little art aprons for kids. They are so adorable painting away in their little cover ups. But since inevitable paint WILL get all over, I thought it would be really great if it looked like it was actually supposed to be there!

Today I have my favorite ever Modern Ombre Baby Quilt! I am totally lovin’ how it came out! It is one of those items that you get a totally hair brained idea of something that migggght work, but really might not. The pattern originally called for rugby stripes which is what I really liked about it, since it had fresh clean lines. But as I combed pinterest for color combinations that might work, I just kept seeing ombre! Ok, maybe I just kept clicking on ombre….
