It's time to get real. I seriously don't think I've ever seen a bad sewing pattern review. Bloggers are too scared to be honest, I can see why too. I think I'll break the seal and tell you guys about a recent experience I had that broke my heart, wasted fabric and caused my husband to belly laugh. Yep....that really happened! You know the feeling, you've been sitting on this pretty pattern just waiting for the perfect time to sew it up. You bought fabric that you love JUST for this sewing pattern.
1) The first problem with this pattern is there is no way to serge the inside seams, if you are a good enough seamstress to make yourself a cute top you are going to want finished edges...right???? I tried to serge it anyways but it just didn't work.
2) The second problem. The neckline was so high on the finished garment that it looks like you have it on backwards. My husband INSISTED it was backwards...that's when the belly laugh came in. We both laughed and couldn't stop. It's better to laugh then cry, right? So, I threw the shirt in the garbage! I must have done something wrong. I was determined to make this pattern work, it was expensive and the packaging is so pretty. So...I did it again! This time I used really special fabric my friend Shelly gave me. One of her sweet relatives brought all the way back from China.
Ugghhhh.....I can't believe I did it again. I was so careful and it came out exactly the same as the 1st try. My husband couldn't believe I tried the same pattern again. I guess I'm suborn, he was right though.
Shelly and I had a pretty serious phone conversation about being honest in our blogging life and we think it's best. We will NOT lie to you. I hope that's what she said, I mean our phone conversations aren't mellow! She had 2 little ones crying in the background because they had to leave the yogurt shop, "flinging yogurt in the shop is NOT OK"! On my end.....I have my husband playing his electric guitar on his concert sized amp in our living room.
YES. I know the pic below isn't pretty.
